The Grand Lift of Dectus serves as a major gateway in Elden Ring, connecting the watery region of Liurnia of the Lakes to the elevated Altus Plateau. Finding this massive structure on the map is essential for players looking to advance through the Lands Between smoothly. Understanding where to find the lift and how to prepare for its activation saves valuable time during your journey.

Where to Find the Grand Lift of Dectus on the Map

The Grand Lift of Dectus is located at the northernmost border of the Liurnia region. On your world map, you can trace the main highway leading north through the Bellum Highway toward the cliff face separating Liurnia from Altus Plateau. The lift itself is built directly into the mountain wall at the end of this paved road.

To pinpoint its location easily, look for the large cathedral-like structure marked at the top edge of the Liurnia map. Approaching the lift from the southern roads reveals a grand staircase guarded by massive stone statues. The nearest Site of Grace is located right outside the lift entrance, allowing fast travel once discovered.

How to Reach the Grand Lift of Dectus

Reaching the lift requires traveling through the Bellum Highway in northern Liurnia. Players can start from the Academy of Raya Lucaria area and head northeast across the terrain. Following the paved road past the Bellum Church leads directly to the lift gates without requiring complex navigation.

While the path along the highway is relatively direct, travelers should be cautious of hostile encampments along the way. Military outposts and siege weapons guard certain stretches of the road leading up to the grand plaza. Riding Torrent allows you to bypass most patrolling guards quickly and reach the Site of Grace safely.

Activating the Lift with the Dectus Medallion

Standing before the statues is not enough to operate the mechanism on its own. To activate the platform, you must collect both the left and right halves of the Dectus Medallion. The left medallion half is located atop a tower in Fort Haight in Limgrave, while the right half is hidden in Fort Faroth in Caelid.

Once both pieces are in your inventory, approach the circle in front of the giant statues at the lift base. A prompt to hoist the medallion will appear on screen, triggering a cinematic cutscene. The lift will then transport you directly to the windswept plains of the Altus Plateau.

Alternative Routes to the Altus Plateau

If you have not yet collected both halves of the medallion, there is a secondary path available. Players can venture down into the ravine north of the lake to find the Ruin-Strewn Precipice. This dungeon offers a vertical climb through mines and cliffside platforms leading up the same mountain face.

Navigating this alternate route requires defeating a formidable boss named Magma Wyrm Makar at the summit. While more challenging than taking the lift, it provides a viable option for adventurous players looking to skip the medallion search. Choosing between the lift and the precipice depends on your current character build and readiness for combat.
